The majors of Chern Institute of Mathematics include Pure Mathematics, Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. The research directions include Non-linear Analysis, Symplectic Geometry, Differential Geometry, Operator Algebra, Cryptography, Coding Theory, Information Theory, Mathematical Physics and Non-linear Problems in Theoretical Physics. The Institute has a high-level team of teachers with international standards. At present, there are more than 10 graduate tutors, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, distinguished professors of the Changjiang Scholars Program, owners of China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists, talents of the Trans-century Training Programs of the Ministry of Education, and talents of the New Century Program of the Ministry of Education.
